FOR PARENTS & FAMILIES

Peace of mind when your player is far from home.

Your player is chasing the game in a new city. We built The Hockey House so you never have to worry about where they’re living.

Safe locations

Safety and proximity to the rink are at the top of our list when we choose a home. Every property is fully renovated and inspected before players move in.

Players 18 and older

Hockey House homes are for players 18 and older. Teams can also assign a house parent: a coach or staff member from the organization, or a screened and background-checked property manager.

Professionally managed

Maintenance, repairs, and regular cleaning are handled by our team. If something breaks, your player isn’t left to figure it out alone.

Meals & getting around

Transportation is not included. For meals, we work with teams to arrange options such as meal plans through local colleges, food delivery services, or meal stipends.

Ask your team which meal option applies to your player’s house.

The lease, in plain English

  • Individual leases: each player (together with a parent or guardian) signs their own lease directly with The Hockey House for the season.
  • Season-long: leases run August through April and roll month-to-month through the playoffs.
  • Stipends count: any housing or billet stipend your player’s team provides is applied toward rent.
  • Security deposit: homes are inspected at the start and end of the season, and any damage is covered by the deposit.
  • Trades: if your player is traded, the incoming player takes over their spot.
  • Injuries: the lease stays in effect for the full season, even if a player is injured. Talk with your team about coverage options.

House rules

Every Hockey House is a place to live, train, and recover, so we keep a few simple standards in every home:

  • 10:00 PM curfew, except for games, travel, and other team-related activities.
  • Quiet hours from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM, out of respect for housemates and neighbors.
  • Strict no-party policy. No exceptions.
  • Families are always welcome. Parents and family are encouraged to visit.

Parent FAQ

Is there a minimum age?

Yes. The Hockey House only houses players who are 18 or older.

Is there a house parent?

Teams can choose to assign one. A house parent is either a coach or staff member from the organization, or a property manager we have screened and background-checked. Ask your player’s team whether their house has one.

Who signs the lease and pays rent?

Each player signs an individual season lease with The Hockey House, along with a parent or guardian. Any housing stipend from the team is applied toward rent first.

Is there a curfew?

Yes. Curfew is 10:00 PM unless a player is at a game, traveling, or taking part in another team-related activity. Quiet hours run from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM.

Can we visit?

Always. Families are welcome at every Hockey House. We just ask that visits respect quiet hours and housemates.

Are parties allowed?

No. Every Hockey House has a strict no-party policy.

Who do we call if something goes wrong?

For maintenance or property issues, contact The Hockey House at 860-538-3672 or devin@proalphamtg.com. For emergencies, always call 911 first.
